Zaher
Op uitnodiging van les ballets C de la B. realiseerde Pierre Muylle co-labo residentie. Het resultaat van die residentie was een voorstelling waarin hij omringd door het publiek objecten uitpakte. Elk object had een verhaal, elk verhaal droeg bij aan een beeld van zijn ontmoetingen in de West Bank in Palestina. Zaher werd in Gent en verschillende Palestijnse steden opgevoerd tijdens het “under construction” festival.
In 2018 vroeg Bozar en de Mahmoud Darwish chair een tweede versie van Zaher. Die tweede verzameling objecten en verhalen was vaker in België te zien was maar reisde niet naar Palestina.
2018 — 2019
Bij het openen van de dozen vertelde ik iets over het object dat ik net had uitgepakt. Na elk verhaal werd het object bijgezet in de tijdelijke tentoonstelling.
“Simply, It was a matter of time and the way you count time, the way you understand time too. For them time meant the seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks months years decades , centuries and the waiting they have to until I break down. While for me time meant the many paintings I make during the occupation and the pleasure I get while painting until they break down. For them they can’t wait forever in their tanks, while for me I could paint millions of subjects with passion and love until they surrender.”

Backgammon en het dobbelen vormde gaandeweg een rode draad voor de voorstellingen. In Palestina was het ook een manier om mensen te ontmoeten.
